SC/AO polishing films for optical fiber applications were developed primarily for resin removal and end face polishing for single-core and multi-core fibers.
For single cores, it is mainly used for resin removal and for multi-cores, it is used for resin removal and flat polishing.

Product Features

The unique polishing layer design allows for both high rate and high durability.
The abrasive grains with different hardness (silicon carbide, aluminum oxide) can be selected. These polishing films can be applied to various processes and sizes for various polishing machines. The product is available in roll, disk, and sheet form with or without adhesive backing and the substrate thickness can be selected from 25, 38, 50, 75, 100, and 125 μm. By selecting the appropriate mesh size, it is possible to control the surface roughness from Ra 1 nm or less to several μm with a wide lineup of abrasive mesh sizes from #320 (60 μm) to #20000 (0.2 μm).
Due to the characteristics of the flexible film, it can be flexibly bent and making it very suitable for polishing curved or uneven surfaces.

Surface features of the polishing layer
The surface of the polishing layer can be roughly divided into two types.
1.F-Type is a smooth type.
2.T-Type is a type with polygonal shape.

Applications

SC/AO films, which are suitable for precision polishing, are also widely used for polishing semiconductor materials and electronic components.
There is a wide product lineup that ranges from rough polishing such as deburring and shaping to finish polishing to achieve fine surface roughness for semiconductors such as silicon, ceramics, glass, and organic materials.
